HWT – Free Aussie Hat – Sunday January 22

Ahead of Australia Day celebrations (on Thursday January 26) the Sunday Herald Sun will be giving readers the opportunity to collect a free Aussie hat with the purchase of the newspaper on Sunday January 22, 2012.

In anticipation of reader demand, you can expect to receive approximately 35% of your current Sunday Herald Sun sales in hats.

Delivery

The hats will be delivered on Thursday January 19 with your newspaper supplies. Please call the Circulation office on (03) 9292 1073 if you do not receive any hats on this day.

The Aussie hats are available in Victoria/Riverina only and on a “while stocks last” basis.

Token

Although customers can obtain a hat simply by purchasing the newspaper, a token will also be printed in paper to be used as proof-of-purchase for Home Delivery customers and customers who choose to collect their hat at a different outlet to where they purchase the paper. The token can also be used for customers wishing to collect their hat after Sunday January 22 (subject to available stock). Should you have stock remaining at the close of trading on Sunday, please either pass it on to your subagents or use the stock to honour any token brought into your shop in subsequent days by customers who have purchased the Sunday Herald Sun.

Sub Retailers

We ask that you supply any newsagency sub retailers in your territory with hats. As a simple guide, if the outlets look like a newsagency to a customer, then they should have stock.

Safeway, Coles, Coles Express, Woolworths Petrol, 7-Eleven, Big W and head office owned Caltex stores will be allocated supplies under the terms of their Direct Relationship Agreements, which servicing newsagents are required to deliver. Outlets for BP and Caltex will also participate and will need to be allocated supplies out of your stock as will any other sub agents you wish to supply.

Due to the fact many newsagents trade only limited hours on a Sunday, it is important that you consider your own circumstances when deciding which sub agents to supply stock to and in what quantities. It would make sense to retain a quantity of hats for collection by home delivery customers however you should not hold back excessive stock of the hats for your shop if your shop only trades for limited hours on a Sunday.

Returns

As the hats are free, you will not be charged and we do not require you to send any returns back to us. Any spare hats however can be given to your Area Manager when they call on your newsagency in the metro area.
A fax will be sent at the end of the promotion asking you to advise us of any stock remaining. Please complete this, as it will assist us in setting allocations for future promotions.

Thank you for your support,
