Tatts are expected to announce later today that the DigiPOS requirements will be reduced. Except for the top 10% of outlets (defined by sales), lotteries outlets will be given the option of whether they want to install a one or two screen format.
Outlets with a weekly turnover of $40,000 or above are still required to have two screens; while those whose weekly turnover is below $40,000 can choose to have either one or two screens based on their needs and what is in the best interests of their business.
This decision is welcomed by VANA. In conjunction with our NSW counterpart NANA, we have been making representations to the Tatts Group in respect to NSW, ACT and Victorian outlets concerning the necessity for two screen formats, especially when the cost impact on outlets, predominantly Newsagents, is quite high.
VANA and NANA have continually argued, on behalf of our members, that lotteries are a part, not all, of a Newsagent’s business and consequently the overall profitability of Newsagents must be taken into account when any cost impacts are being required by suppliers and business partners.
VANA Members who have planned for two screen format installations in the near future can now reconsider their plans.
